How To Add A PayPal Donate Button In WordPress

Before you start you need a PayPal account or you can log in to your existing account. 

Here I am going to show you the way with a free plugin. It’s simple but very limited in terms of what you can do. 

First, install and activate the PayPal Donations plugin from the WordPress plugins directory. 

When activation is done, navigate to Settings -> PayPal Donations page to create your donation button. 

At here enter your PayPal email address which you use to log in to PayPal. By default, the currency will be US dollars. To change this select your preferred currency from the Currency dropdown menu. 

You might want to create a thank you page on your website and set this as a return page. To do this, after creating the thank you page place the page link in the ‘Return Page’. 

Optionally you can also add a default amount purpose and reference. 

Next, select a PayPal button style or enter your URL for a custom button image. If you wish you can also change the Country and Language. By default Country and language are set to the United States – U.S. English. 

Once you are done don’t forget to hit Save Changes button. 

Now open the page or post where you want to add a PayPal donation button. 

Add a new block and search for shortcode. Insert shortcode block into your page. 

Inside the shortcode, block paste this code below

Now save your post and preview your page or post. Here’s the donate button on this website. 

If you wish you can also add your donation button in the sidebar. To add into the sidebar navigate to Appearance -> Widgets and drag the PayPal donations widget into your sidebar.
