Rich Snippets provide valuable information of your website in the search result. It will allow you to have custom search listings for special content like reviews, events, recipes, etc. If you don’t know how to add rich snippets on your website or how to use it, you can easily learn it from this post.
In this post, I will show you how to add rich snippets in WordPress. Let’s start then.
What Are Rich Snippets
Rich snippets are good looking and well-structured results that you get in Google when searching for a specific term. Any sort of pages/content can be displayed with a rich snippet(i.e., Events, recipes, products, reviews, websites, etc.). To get rich snippets in Google search results, you have to add structured data to your site pages.
Add Rich Snippets In WordPress Using Plugin
There are several plugins in WordPress that make it super easy for you to add rich snippets in your posts in WordPress.
At the very beginning, install and activate ‘Schema – All In One Schema Rich Snippets’ plugin. After activating the plugin, click on ‘Rich Snippets’ from the dashboard. Then you will be able to add rich snippets.
On the configuration tab, you will be able to see different content types that you will be able to create with this plugin. This list contains:
- Item Review
- Software Application
When you click on any content type, it will show you the available fields when a user is writing a post/ page or any kind of custom post type.
Now all you have to do is edit an existing post or edit a new post. Below the post editor, you will found a new meta box labeled ‘Configure Rich Snippet.’
Inside, you will find a drop-down menu where you can select content type for your post on which you are working on
Upon selecting a content type, you see rich snippet fields you need to fill. In the below screenshot, I have selected the content type ‘Article.’ Therefore, it is showing us the article name, author, short description, and article image fields.
If you wish, you can change it to event, recipe, or whatever content type you want. You don’t require to add all fields, but some fields are mandatory by Google to display rich snippets.
After adding data, don’t forget to save your post to store rich snippets of data.
Test Your Rich Snippets
How will you know that you are using rich snippets correctly on your site? Google and other search engines might not pick up your rich snippets or show it in search results immediately.
To do this, you need to visit Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool. You can fetch the URL link or paste your markup in the toolbox. Then click on the Validate button, and the tool will review your markup.
There are also a few other plugins that can do this also, but here I have shown you the procedure with the best one. I hope this post has helped you to learn how to add rich snippets to the WordPress site. If you have liked this post, don’t forget to share it with your friends.
