In this post, I am sharing with you the way to copy or move comments between WordPress posts. After viewing the post you will be able to move any comments between posts by yourself.
Sometimes a situation may come where you need to combine multiple posts in a new post, or move any comments of a post and then delete it. In scenarios like this, moving or copying comments is very helpful.
Redirecting posts will help you get SEO benefits but won’t save any comments. Moving comments from one post to another saves you, and people get their trust by viewing those comments.
Method 1: Move Comments Using Copy or Move Comments Plugin
You can easily copy or move your comments with this plugin.
Step 1: Install the ‘Copy or Move Comments’ Plugin
First, navigate to Plugins -> Add New and search for ‘Copy or Move Comments’ plugin. Install and activate the plugin.
Step 2: Select Source
From the dashboard, click on ‘Copy/Move Comments’.
If you like to copy comments, then select ‘Copy’ from the Action. Then select the source; here, you can select any post, page, attachment, custom CSS, etc. Most of the time, comments are created on posts and pages.
After selecting the source, choose the post or page from where you want to copy or move comments.
Comments are of two types: with replies and without replies. Select the type; you can either choose ‘single’ or ‘with replies’.
Step 3: Select Destination
Now select the target post type and the post where you want to copy or move comments.
Finally, hit the ‘Perform Action’ button, and all of your comments will be copied or moved.
Method 2: Move Comments Using the Tako Movable Comments Plugin
This is another plugin, that does the same thing. If you don’t like to use the first plugin, then you may use this one. Remember, this plugin is updated 8 years ago and it may have vulnerabilities issues.
Step 1: Install the Tako Movable Comments Plugin
From your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Plugins -> Add New Plugins and search for ‘Tako Movable Comments’.
Install the plugin and don’t forget to activate it.
Step 2: Move Comment
From dashboard, navigate to ‘Comment’ section. Find the comment that you want to move and hover cursor over it.
Click on the ‘edit’ button.
Now, all details regarding comment will be visible to you.
If you wish you can change the details else move down to the section ‘Move Comments with Tako’.
From the third point, type the post name on which you want to move comment. Select the post and then click on the ‘Update’ button.
If you like to change move the comment to any page, then choose the type as ‘page’ from the second point.
This is quite simple, but if you have a lot of comments, then its going to be a tiresome work.
