How to Add Google Maps in WordPress
Adding Google maps is very much easy you can either directly embed or use a plugin to add google maps to your website. Here, I am showing you both ways.
Method 1: Using Google Maps Embed Feature
This is the easiest method for embedding Google maps on your website. First, you have to navigate to Google Maps Embeds. This website comes with default embed functionality that allows you to add your address directly to your website.
Now enter your address on the address bar and the location will be loaded automatically. If you don’t wish to customize anything then simply hit the ‘Get HTML-Code’ button.
But if you wish to change the view to satellite, toggle the ‘Satelite’ button. You can also zoom the map, and adjust the height and width of the map. Then hit the ‘Get HTML-Code’ button.
A pop-up will occur with code, copy the whole code.
On your website open the page or post where you want to add google maps. Click on the Add block button and search for ‘Custom HTML’.
Now paste the code in the HTML block and publish or update the post.
Your post will look similar to this.
Method 2: Install a Google Maps Plugin
In this method, at first login to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Plugins -> Add new. Here search for WP Go Maps.
Install and activate the plugin. After the activation navigate to maps -> Settings from the dashboard.
Now click on the Maps, then from the My Maps click on the Edit button to edit your current map. For the first time, it will let you choose the map engine. You can choose either Google Maps or OpenLayers.
Google Maps will require an API key, which you have to generate from the Google maps platform. If you are going to need maps a lot then Google maps is best and it is also advised to buy the pro version of WP Go Maps.
The OpenLayers map is free and doesn’t require any API, but everything is pretty much limited. Here I am choosing the OpenLayers.
Later, click on Finish install. After the first time setup is completed you will be taken to the map editing page.
On the editing page, write the map name, add a new marker by writing the address then click on Add Marker. There are other advanced options, feel free to customize your map in the way you like.
In the end, don’t forget to click on the Save Map button.
Later on, click on the shortcode from this page or navigate to maps and then click on the shortcode.
On click, the shortcode will be copied.
Now, open the page or post where you want to add your map. Click on the Add block button and search for ‘Shortcode’.
Click on the block and insert it. Now paste the shortcode that you copied.
Publish or update the post, and you will see your map on the action in the frontend.
It is far more convincing and engaging to include a Google Map on your website than just providing an address. It may also boost the local SEOs of your site, give straightforward guidance and showcase good feedback from your business.
