Why Resize A Video in WordPress?
Resizing video dimensions when embedding them into a WordPress website is essential for several reasons. Some of the significant causes are highlighted below.
- Better Mobile Responsiveness: Large video dimensions can cause display issues. Resizing videos ensures they fit well on all devices and provide a seamless viewing experience.
- Preserving Video Quality: By manually resizing videos to the appropriate dimensions, you ensure they are displayed at their best quality.
- Optimized User Experience: Unmatched video dimensions can make your website look unprofessional. By resizing videos to fit the design of your website, you maintain a professional layout.
These are some of the factors that everyone should consider when resizing their video size or dimensions.
Now, let’s learn how to resize a video in WordPress below. Let’s dive in!
How to Resize A Video in WordPress?
I will use the Ultimate Blocks for today’s tutorial, which has the Advanced Video block that lets users resize video dimensions.
Step 1: Install the Ultimate Blocks
To install the Ultimate Blocks, go to your website’s dashboard.
Now, navigate to Plugins (1) > Add new Plugin (2). Search for Ultimate Blocks (3) and install the plugin (4).
After that, you must activate the plugin (1).
Step 2: Insert the Advanced Video Block
Go to your post or page where you want to add your slideshow. Click the + icon (Add Block) in the editor (1) and type “Advanced Video” in the search box (2). Click on the Advanced Video to insert it into the editor(3).
You must upload or select your video from the media library or give a video link when the Block is inserted in the editor. N.B. The Video Resizing Method is the same if you upload a custom video or choose one from the media library.
In my case, I will insert a video link in the block since I have enough videos on our Ultimate Blocks’s YouTube Channel. To insert a video from the link, click “Insert from URL” (1).
Now, Paste Your Video link (1) and click the Apply button (2). After that, your video will be inserted in the editor.
Step 3: Resize Your Video
When the video is inserted into the editor, you can resize it. Select your Advanced Video block to resize your video and navigate to Settings (1) > Block (2)> General (3) from the top right side panel. You can select the video block simply by clicking the video.
Now deactivate the “Autofit Video Embed” (1). Upon deactivation, it will show two new options: “VIDEO WIDTH (PERCENTAGE)” and “VIDEO HEIGHT (Pixels).”
Now, modify the Video Width and Video Height using the slider to resize the video according to your needs. Don’t forget to Save or Publish your post or page after editing.
Here is the final look below.
So that’s how you resize a video in WordPress using the Ultimate Blocks.
