How to Rollback WordPress Themes to a Previous Version

Updates always make you more secure and enrich with customizations. But sometimes updates might cause you trouble. For instance, a new update in your current theme may break your entire website. There are high chances that it may cause compatibility issues or doesn’t meet your expectations.

Before You Rollback Your Themes

Before you roll back your theme, make sure you have a backup copy of your website. When you rollback your theme, your site may break due to theme dependencies. Then you have no other choice than to move back to the version it worked fine.

Rollback WordPress Themes

You can easily rollback wordpress themes by using the WP Rollback plugin. 

Step #1: Install WP Rollback Plugin

First, download and install the WP Rollback plugin from the WordPress plugins inventory. 

Step #2: Rollback Theme

Now navigate to Appearance -> Themes and click on the theme that you want to rollback to the previous version. 

Upon clicking on the theme, you will find a small button named ‘Rollback’ on the left below corner. 

Click on it. Now you will find all of the previous versions of the theme. Choose the version you want to rollback to and click on the rollback button. 

Then, your theme will be rollbacked to the version you have selected.
