How to Create a Searchable Table in WordPress

If you’re publishing content-heavy pages such as product listings, resource directories, feature comparisons, or pricing tables, your readers shouldn’t have to scroll endlessly to find what they’re looking for.

Creating a Searchable Table in WordPress

To add a searchable table in WordPress, you’ll need to use the Table Block by Tableberg plugin. It’s a block-based plugin that works seamlessly with the WordPress editor.

Now follow the steps below:

Step 1: Install the Tableberg Plugin

From your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New and search for Tableberg. Click Install Now, then Activate the plugin.

Note: The basic version of Tableberg is available for free in the WordPress repository. However, the search functionality is only available in the Pro version. You’ll need to upgrade to unlock this feature.

Once you’ve purchased a plan, you’ll receive installation instructions via email to activate the Pro version.

Step 2: Create a Table or Convert Your Existing Table

Now that Tableberg is installed, you have two options:

Option 1: Create a Table

Go to the post or page where you want to add your table. Click on + icon to add a block and search for Tableberg. You can build a table from the scratch. But for the sake of this tutorial, I’m using a pre-built table.

Option 2: Convert an Existing Table

If you’ve already created a table using the default WordPress Table block, you can convert it to a Tableberg table in one click. Simply click on the table icon from the toolbar and select transform to ‘Tableberg’.

Step 3: Enable the Search Option

Once your table is ready:

1. Select the table block.
2. In the right-hand Block Settings panel, scroll down to the Table Options section.
3. Toggle on Enable Search.
4. Customize the search placeholder text if you want.
5. Adjust the search bar alignment to Left, Center, Right, or Full Width.
