An Amazon affiliate website lets you earn commissions by promoting products you don’t own. It’s a reliable way for many to make extra money, with low initial costs and high-income potential.

An Amazon affiliate website is like having your own online store. But instead of selling things directly, you help people find cool stuff on Amazon.

It’s totally different from having your own store where you source products, handle sales, and manage inventory. You don’t have to do any of that with an Amazon affiliate site. You don’t even need to spend a lot of money or time.

The best part about an Amazon affiliate site is that Amazon handles the sales themselves. Your job is to create valuable content and share affiliate links to Amazon products.

You don’t have to worry about handling money or shipping products, either. Amazon takes care of everything. You just share and help others find products.

People visit Amazon’s product page when they read your content and click the links. For every purchase made through your link, Amazon gives you a commission.

You can make a good amount of commission based on what you promote. Different categories have different prices and commission rates. In popular categories, you can even earn extra money.

For example, DogFoodAdvisor is a blog about dog food. They make authentic content about dog food and earn a lot of money through affiliate sales. It’s estimated they make over $5 million each year this way.

You can find out about popular niches by reading a blog from Autods. They’ve made a list of niches to help you understand better. JingScout also shared the best Amazon affiliate products for February 2024 in a new blog post.

Amazon has over 350 million products already. With a little bit of research, you can choose any product and start your affiliate site.

It’s important to know that Amazon made over $30 billion in net income in 2023. Because it’s so popular, more than 58% of affiliate marketers use Amazon Associates. And that number keeps going up.

So, there’s plenty of opportunity to earn more commission in 2024.

Creating an Amazon affiliate site is a step-by-step process. There are some initial preparations. After that, you can directly go into publishing content and products.

The steps we’re going to cover here:

  • 1. Choose your domain first
  • 2. Pick a suitable hosting
  • 3. Sign up for your Amazon Associates account
  • 4. Find your cash products on Amazon
  • 5. Create Amazon affiliate links
  • 6. Set up WooCommerce for Amazon affiliate products
  • 7. Customize your Amazon affiliate storefront

1. Choose your domain first

Before anything else, you’ll want to pick the right domain name for your Amazon affiliate website. A relevant domain name helps visitors understand what your website is about at first glance. Not to forget, it also indirectly helps with SEO.

Successfully picking a relevant domain helps establish trust and credibility with your audience. For example, if you’re focusing on outdoor gear, a domain like “OutdoorAdventures” or “AdventureGearHub” would be fitting.

Similarly, consider domains like “GlamourGlow” or “BeautyBoutiqueHub” for beauty products. Make sure your domain is memorable and easy to spell.

Also, you can consider adding prefixes or suffixes related to your niche to make your domain unique. A brandable domain makes it easier to market the products. Use Namecheap or similar domain registrars to find suitable domain names.

A domain can cost anywhere from $5/year to $15/year, based on your selection. Best if you go for a (dot).com domain name, according to NameExperts. However, you can choose any domain extension for your site.

2. Pick a suitable hosting

Choosing a good website hosting is super important for your Amazon affiliate website. Hostinger, SiteGround, Namecheap, Kinsta, and GreenGeeks are all good choices.

Good hosting makes sure your website loads faster and has more uptime. This is really important for giving people a good experience and making more money as an affiliate.

Also, an affiliate site usually has more traffic than regular sites. Because the affiliate market space is crowded, your hosting should not lack in terms of bandwidth. If you lack bandwidth, your site may risk going offline. This means you could lose out on sales. So, pick a hosting plan with enough bandwidth and room to grow to stop this.

That also includes the disc space allocated to your hosting. You will find Hostinger packages more impressive due to the features and uptime.

But do mind the cost. Best if you pick web hosting plans for your affiliate site. They cost less and get the job done.

Once you’re done with the domain and hosting, you can install WordPress and WooCommerce on your new site. Then, you can start processing your Amazon associate account.

3. Sign up for your Amazon Associates account

All Amazon affiliates are bound to create an Amazon associate account at the start. This account helps you monetize your traffic and help onboarding products.

Luckily, getting started with your Amazon associates account is easier than you might think. Just follow these simple steps:

Note: Amazon instantly approves new affiliate signups. But you must get 3 sales within 180 days or else your account will risk for termination.

3.1: Visit the Amazon Associates website

Visit the Amazon Associates website

First, visit the Amazon associate webpage to start your journey. You will see a signup button on your screen. Just click on it and proceed.

3.2: Login to your existing Amazon account or create new

You can use your existing Amazon account to sign up for an Amazon Associate account. Many marketers do recommend signing in with a personal account. But you can also create a new account with your business information.

Login to your existing Amazon account or create a new

Note that you don’t need multiple accounts to handle multiple affiliate sites. You can use your single account to list multiple sites. Please note that having multiple accounts for one person is a violation of Amazon’s policies.

3.3: Enter your account information

After signing in, you need to fill in the information, including the payee’s name, address, location, etc.

By default, your above information will be used for the payee account. If you want a different payee, select “someone else” radio and fill in the required fields.

On the next tab, enter your website URL and click add. This will add your domain to Amazon’s affiliate database.

Pro tip: You can add multiple domains to list all your affiliate sites.

enter your website URL and click add

Next, under the profile section, you need to define your store ID and basic information about what you’re doing there. Also, choose from the options that describe your site in the best way.

Note that your store ID will help you keep track of the commission and all associated data. The ID will also be used for all product affiliate links. So feel free to select a suitable ID.

At the end of the step, you need to fill in your payment and tax information. You can also skip these for later.

At this point, you can access your Amazon affiliate dashboard. The exciting part is that all these steps only require a few minutes.

Then again, remember to generate 3 sales within 180 days from signup to sustain your Amazon associate account.

That said, regardless of the traffic volume if your site fails to generate 3 sales in the meantime, you’ll lose your account.

So, consider publishing your content as soon as you access your dashboard.

Also, you can check out all the rules and policies regarding affiliates under the help tab. We recommend checking it out at least once for clarification.

4. Find your cash products on Amazon

Once your dashboard is ready, you can simply hover to the bottom until you find the “check out these popular items” banner.

If you click on the “see all” option, it’ll take you to Amazon’s trending product list.

Here, you can start searching for your target products for affiliation. There’s a category list on your left. You can take your time to compare between these categories and then make selections.

Remember, Amazon suggests these as trending products. You can always perform manual searches to find niche-based products. There’s no obstruction at all.

But also keep in mind that certain niche products always have a high commission rate. This is something Amazon developed on its own.

5. Create Amazon affiliate links

After you’ve found your product, you can open it in the full tab to access the link. You’ll see a top bar or “SiteStripe” to help you find product links. You can generate text links instantly and then even customize the link.

Create Amazon affiliate links

You’ll also find image, text + image and custom link options on the top bar. Previously, you could just hover over the product images to generate links. However, Amazon has discontinued this option.

Caution: You can generate full links as well as short links for products. But you can not use any 3rd-party link shortener for this.

6. Set up WooCommerce for Amazon affiliate products

But first, you can learn how to install WordPress with Softaculous. To continue forward, you will need a working WordPress website. So, better complete the installation and then proceed to the next steps.
