Can I Deactivate the Free Version of Ultimate Blocks if I Have Ultimate Blocks Pro Installed?
Short answer: No — you must keep both the free and Pro versions installed and active for Ultimate Blocks Pro to work properly.
Why You Need Both Versions
Ultimate Blocks Pro is built as an extension to the free version of Ultimate Blocks.
The free version contains the core functionality and all of the base blocks, while the Pro version adds premium features and enhancements on top of it.
If you deactivate or delete the free version:
• Your existing Ultimate Blocks content (e.g., Review Block, Tabbed Content, Table of Contents, etc.) will stop working.
• Some or all blocks may disappear from your posts/pages.
• Your site may show layout issues or missing content where the blocks were used.
This is why both plugins must be installed and activated:
1. Ultimate Blocks (Free) → provides the foundation and core blocks.
2. Ultimate Blocks Pro → unlocks advanced options, styles, and extra features for those blocks.
Common Misunderstanding
It’s common for users to assume that the Pro plugin is a “standalone” version that replaces the free one — but in Ultimate Blocks’ case, the Pro plugin cannot work alone.
Other plugins may bundle free and pro features into one package, but we’ve chosen this “extension” model for easier updates, faster development, and better compatibility.
Can You Get a Standalone Pro Version?
At the moment, we don’t offer a Pro-only version. This is mainly to:
• Keep updates lightweight (you only download changes in the Pro plugin when upgrading).
• Ensure that core and premium features are developed and maintained separately for stability.
• Reduce the risk of breaking sites when switching between plans.
However, we do appreciate the feedback, and we’ll keep the idea of a Pro-only package in mind for future development.
TL;DR
• ❌ Do not deactivate or delete the free version if you’re using Pro.
• ✅ Keep both versions active for everything to work properly.
